Kathmandu, Jan. 19: The Supreme Court has rejected a plea to issue an order restricting security personnel from using metal bullets and other potentially lethal equipment to control public gatherings and demonstrations.
During the hearing on a writ petition presented by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, Justice Kumar Chundal refused to issue an interim order.
Tripathi’s petition argued that the deployment of lethal equipment by security personnel during protests had resulted in fatalities among the general public.
Following the SC’s decision, security personnel may continue to be authorized to use metal bullets while managing crowds in public spaces.
