Foundation Stone Laid for Kuri Health Post-Birthing Centre in Dhading

02/07/2025

Kathmandu, Feb. 7: The foundation stone for the Kuri Health Post-Birthing Centre Building at Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, Dhading, was laid today in a joint ceremony attended by Dilman Pakhrin, Constituent Assembly Member, Ran Bahadur Tamang, Chairman of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, and Gitanjali Brandon, Counsellor at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu.

The health post-birthing centre is being constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India, at a project cost of NRs. 25.10 million under the Nepal-India Development Cooperation initiative. The project includes the construction of a guard house, compound wall, canteen block, pathway, and other essential facilities as part of a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).

During the event, political representatives, government officials, and social workers acknowledged India’s continued support in Nepal’s development. They emphasized that the new health facility will significantly improve maternal and child healthcare services in the region.

Since 2003, India has undertaken over 563 HICDPs in Nepal, successfully completing 490 projects, including 108 in Bagmati Province. Additionally, the Government of India has gifted 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepalese hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions on India’s Independence and Republic Days. Dhading alone has received 15 ambulances and three school buses under this initiative.

India and Nepal continue to strengthen their bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. The implementation of HICDPs reflects India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s developmental goals, particularly in healthcare and infrastructure.
