New Delhi, Mar. 2: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India was concerned about the crisis in the Middle East and batted for dialogues to resolve the tensions. Addressing a joint press briefing with Canadian PM Mark Carney, he said: “The current situation in West Asia is a matter of grave concern for us. India wants all conflicts to be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. We shall continue working with the nations in the region to secure the safety of all Indians.”
PM Modi further said that India has always advocated peace and stability. He said Canada and India were in agreement when it came to the impact of terrorism, extremism, and radicalisation. He said these are major challenges for the entire world.
PM Modi, however, did not name any nation or the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayotollah Khamenei.
The latest crisis in the Middle East arose when Israel and the US launched a joint military operation against Iran. The conflict quickly escalated with the death of Iran’s Supreme Commander Ayotollah Khamenei in the attacks.
Iran hit back at Israel and also targeted US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. In the mean time, Hezbollah, a radical Islamist political organisation in Lebanon and a staunch supporter of the Khamenei regime, launched attacks to retaliate to the killing of Khamenei.
Now, Israel has launched a campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon. So far, Lebanon has confirmed 31 deaths in the Israeli attacks.-Agencies
