Jeep accident update: Death toll reaches eight, victims identified

Kathmandu, Mar. 14 : The number of people killed in a jeep accident at Bakhakuwa in Belaka-7, Udayapur district, has reached eight. 

According to police, seven passengers succumbed to their injuries at the accident site, while one tragically passed away while undergoing medical treatment.

The ill-fated jeep (Ko 1 Ja 2593) that was heading toward Dakshin Ghoretar of Bhojpur from Dharan met with an accident at around 1:30 PM on Thursday.

DSP Sudeep Raj Pathak of the District Police Office, Bhojpur, confirmed that all deceased victims have been identified. Th deceased have been identified as jeep driver Man Bahadur Basnet,40, from Itahari municipality-9, Parbat Maya Rai, 70, Chandra Prasad Rai , 23, and a six month old minor Bishang Chamling Rai from Hatuwagadi Rural Municipality-2.

Raj Kumari Rai, 32, from Hatuwagadi-5, Padam Bahadur Thapa,68, from Hatuwagadi-9, Kamala Adhikari,45, and Kishan Rai, 42, from Hatuwagadi-5 are also among those killed in the tragic accident.

Meanwhile, the injured passengers are currently receiving medical treatment at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
