Washington, Dec. 1: Elon Musk has said that his partner, Shivon Zilis, is half-Indian and that one of their sons carries the middle name “Sekhar”, chosen in honour of Indian-American physicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Speaking on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, Musk shared details about Zilis’s background and her family history.
“I’m not sure if you know this, but my partner Shivon is half-Indian,” Musk said on the podcast. “One of my sons with her, his middle name is Sekhar after Chandrasekhar.”
Musk said Zilis grew up in Canada and was adopted as a baby.
“She was given up for adoption when she was a baby. I think her father was an exchange student at a university or something like that,” he said. “I’m not sure of the exact details, but she grew up in Canada.”
Zilis joined Musk’s company Neuralink in 2017 and is now Director of Operations and Special Projects. She studied Economics and Philosophy at Yale University and has four children with Musk: twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia, and son Seldon Lycurgus.
During the same episode, Musk also spoke about the role of Indian talent in the United States. “America has been an immense beneficiary of talent from India, but that seems to be changing now,” he said, pointing to concerns about rising visa restrictions and uncertainty in US immigration policy.-Agencies
