Copenhagen, Sept. 4: Environmental activist Greta Thunberg was among the six people arrested at the University of Copenhagen during a protest against the war in Gaza on Wednesday .
The arrest occurred after 20 demonstrators blocked the entrance to a building and three entered the building, the news agency AFP quoted the police.
While police declined to comment on arrests, as per reports, a spokesperson for the Students Against the Occupation group, which organised the protest, confirmed Thunberg's arrest. Images shared by Thunberg on Instagram showed riot police entering the building where the protest was taking place.
A photo of Greta Thunberg, published by the news outlet Ekstra Bladet, depicted her wearing what the newspaper described as handcuffs, along with a black-and-white keffiyeh shawl draped over her shoulders.
As per the AFP report, the police spokesperson said that those arrested were suspected of forcing their way into the building and blocking the entrance. Students Against the Occupation issued a statement on Instagram criticising the university's continued cooperation with academic institutions in Israel and demanding an academic boycott.
